Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11:19AM (Monroe, Ga - Oct 15, 2009) The USDA Rural Development Office announced a grant award of $112,000 to Down to Earth Energy for the installation of of a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its production facility in Monroe, GA. It is the goal of DTEE (Down to Earth Energy) to be the first industrial biodiesel producer in the country with more than 40% of its electricity usage – equivalent to roughly 144,000 kWh/year – to come from carbon-free, renewable solar energy. DTEE is evaulating a 100 kWp solar PV array and the potential for a 100 kWp ground-mounted, fixed-tilt array to provide roughly 150 MWh per electricity at the DTEE facilities in Monroe, GA. DTEE has worked closely with RadianceSolar in the design and implementation of this system.
